GREENVILLE, NC - On March 24 of this year, Tom Kulikowski, President and CEO announced a significant initiative for Penco. “I am pleased to announce that we are establishing a center of excellence in Product Development. The Penco Center for Design Excellence, based just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, will be dedicated to defining and developing market-focused products that capitalize on our breadth of skills and experience as well as those of select partners. While providing development support to current product lines, the Center will have a strategic focus on developing products that have impact and that diversify our business base into new markets.”
Today, the Penco Center for Design Excellence has become a reality with the opening of our new facility in American Fork, Utah. We have designed this facility specifically to support the development of new products with a beautiful office area equipped with state-of-the-art computer and communications equipment, a fabrication shop for building prototypes, and a laboratory for testing and validating designs.
Selection of a location far from our manufacturing facilities was done intentionally so the staff of the design center will be 100% focused on new product development without the distractions of day-to-day operations support. Our location in Utah is currently a hotbed of business startups, innovation and technological development.
Charged with the task of developing innovation as a core competency within Penco, the Design Center staff will lead cross-functional project teams in converting great ideas into commercially successful products using a highly structured development process.
The Design Center team has hit the ground running with two large and three smaller projects already under development. The team feels a great sense of urgency to transform Penco from complacency to a vibrant and dynamic leader in creating new products and innovations within an industry that has been traditionally slow to evolve. This is an effort that must include every employee of Penco as well as our vendor partners and most importantly, our great customers. We are looking forward to working with each and every one of you in this great effort.
